Delta Dental Hygienist Scholarship Program

Offered by Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.

First year dental hygiene students currently accepted to an accredited dental hygiene program in Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana may apply for up to $15,000 to cover the cost of tuition, instrument kits, and other necessary equipment. Students can apply for scholarships each year for up to two years. Priority will be given to individuals who demonstrate a financial need. If selected, the scholarship funds will be paid directly to the student.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a first year dental hygiene student; 
  • Be accepted into an accredited dental hygiene program in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana (a letter of consideration from an accredited dental hygiene program is also acceptable; if accepted into the program, a formal letter of acceptance will be required before funds are disbursed);
  • Submit a completed application and provide all associated documentation for review during the open applicable period; and
  • Participate in a scheduled interview(s) with the Selection Committee.

Individuals not eligible to participate in the program include:

  • Individuals who have defaulted on federal loans; and/or
  • Immediate family members of employees and/or board members of Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, Inc., Delta Dental Plan of Ohio, Inc., Delta Dental Plan of Indiana, Inc., and/or the Delta Dental Foundation.

Continued Program Eligibility
Recipients who are chosen to participate in the program will be required to verify compliance with the program requirements on at least an annual basis (or more frequently as may be necessary to ensure compliance).  Such verification may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Proof of good academic standing in their dental hygiene program.
  • Participation in scheduled interviews with the Selection Committee to discuss your experience with the program.

A recipient’s failure to maintain ongoing compliance with program requirements may result in termination from the program and a loss of scholarship funding.
